Lucas FW2 wiper motors

enrich01

Accelerating Away
Hi, have a issues with Lucas FW2 The wiper motors. The drivers side has been working well for years..., But the wipe stroke has increased drastically.
The wiper blade starts in the middle of the screen but eventually begins to wipe further over into the right sector of the screen, until the blade starts striking the windscreen frame, quickly splitting the bottom corner of the wiper blade.
Now I've checked the wiper arm/drive spindle and all is locked tightly to the shaft, but still the wiper stroke increases until it fouls the windscreen frame.
Is there any internal adjustment in the Wiper motor gear box or in its drive to reduce, or change the wiper arm sweep stroke?

The spindle sits inside the bore of the sweeping component that is actuated by the crank on the main gear.
Could be it is loose in there and gets progressively worse as things heat up or whatever.

Worth popping off the cover and looking inside to check.

There are videos and web articles with pictures in showing you what to expect, so it's not scary at all!

are you saying that the wiper arm now does a 180 sweep .. .. i mean .. it now wipes from the bottom of the sweep at the base of the windscreen.. to the right hand edge of the screen . are you losing the sweep to the left .. but gaining a more of a sweep to the right .. where it is now hitting the side .. or is the total swept area increasing with use ..???
