Anti-theft alarm device idea

No bugger can lift the car when its switched off, not unless they have bolt cutters, a masters in electrical engineering, and an deep phycological understanding of the owner.

Just have to get something like a remote kill switch but one that will turn off if you walk away with the key fob/card.

I have exactly this on my S2a. 2 door switches, a secret switch, and a unit with a timer that triggers the horn. I got a 1960's car alarm of e-bay, Sparkrite AT20, its perfect for a Series. Search boot sales, there were loads about and the AT20 is the most basic but it does the job. The wiring diagrammes are on the web.
I like the idea of a period correct alarm. There are quite a few NOS on Ebay. What are the best makes? Sparkrite? Moss?

In the 70's I had an uncle living on the Aylesbury Estate - one of the most crime ridden in London. He drove an Austin 1300 . After it got stolen and dumped for the 3rd time he fitted a petrol tap under the drivers seat, the fuel line ran to back the front under the floor and he had it so he could reach under the seat and turn it. Within a week it got stolen but they only got 100 yds and stopped so he just walked down and drove it back, they tried one more time then gave up, they never found the tap.

My old petrol series 3 88 could run without the battery as once started the alternator was still powering the ignition circuit, i read, most likely on here that due to this disconnecting the battery whilst running can damage things,

I've interrupted to cable to the key and routed it through a spare original unmarked toggle switch on the dash. Why there was a spare I don't know, but it is pretty impossible for it to be started and nicked. Another form of remote isolator but easily and quickly accessed if you need to disable the car in a fraction of a second even if running.

It doesn't help though with villains nicking stuff from inside. I kind of think that any delay though even 10 secs is plenty of time for them to strip anything unattached out.

So I'd probably plump for a lockable cubby up front / tool safe in the back if that's what you need. But its never going to be proper villain proof.

I had a cortina stolen it was a piece of crap that was going to be banger raced but it had a bit of tax and MOT so use it . Taken over night from outside a girlfriends house a few days later coming back from GT Yarmouth after a night's racing there it is in the pub carpark. So it was simple there were about 15 of us so it gets driven away. Next morning plod are at the door asking questions about how I got it it has been reported stolen by the person in the pub. I am told I must not get rid of it ok they did not say I could not race it next time they came round a few days later they did not find it funny. I offered to deliver it for them if the people accusing me of stealing it wanted it back.

Paired with a GPS tracker and we're on a winner. Force some scumbag theft to brakedown as they drive past the local cop shop
buy a cheap and easy to fit .. coban tk 103 tracker/alarm and use your phone to arm disarm and switch the engine off at your command ... all by your phone .. it will be the best ÂŁ50 spent .... just let them pull you out of the car and as they race away with it .. just send the text to your car and off it will go .. and with luck they get hit by a car as they get out to run away ... well you can hope that happens any way ...

Ive an earlier version of that and it only works on 2G networks, and not all carriers still support 2G and many are planning to switch them off.
Unsure if they have updated the later versions...
